The valley is in the middle of the desert with the Río Negro river as the only source of water which gives life to the region. This area's unique geographical setting has made it the best pear and apple producing region in Argentina.

Agro Roca's commitment to sustainable and organic agriculture began in 1991 when they started an organic transition program under the sponsorship of the Argentine Ecological Foods Foundation (Fundación Alimentos Ecológicos Argentinos - FAEA). At the time this was the only accredited certification agency in Argentina. They began with small acreage and gradually increased the area of pear and apple varieties in organic production.

Although they encountered numerous challenges during their transition period, agronomists Enrique Scholz and Leonardo Lustig didn't give up. Initially they exported only a couple of thousand boxes of each variety annually. As they began incorporating more acres volume increased substantially, but most of all, they saw a high increase in their yields since going organic. Today they ship large quantities of high quality certified organic Bartlett, Red Bartlett, Bosc, Packham and D’Anjou pears, as well as Granny Smith, Gala and Fuji apples. They also grow and ship smaller quantities of special, gourmet varieties such as organic Abate Fetel and Alexander Lucas pears.

CF Fresh is proud to support the outstanding work of Agro Roca over the past several years and look forward to many more years of providing their healthy, high quality organic fruit to consumers.

Agriculture in this semi desert area depends on the crystalline waters of the Río Negro, which has its headwaters in the towering Andes mountains to the west. Situated at almost 39° south latitude, the valley of the Río Negro is ideal for growing pears and apples. Its exceptional climate and soil conditions, coupled with clean air and water, produce fruits with exceptional flavor, among the best worldwide.

Expofrut began to transition select orchards to organic in 1995. Today they are an important producer of delicious organic Bartlett, Red Bartlett, Packham, and D’Anjou pears, as well as Gala and Granny Smith apples. All their organic fruit is certified by Argencert. We applaud their commitment to organic agriculture, and look forward to a long and prosperous future partnership.

Today, under the name Olive Grove, Santo Caprioli and his sons Horacio and Felipe produce certified organic fruits and vegetables on their pristine farms beneath the towering Andes mountains. They produce sweet and juicy organic Bing Cherries, which are a real treat for North American consumers in December! The cherries are followed in late January with delicious organic Plums. Their 200 hectares of organic Bartletts from the “Maria Bianca” orchard are some of the first to ripen in Argentina, bringing the sweet, juicy taste of summer to North American markets in February. The Caprioli's harvest comes to a close with the Packham pear, ripe and delicious in the Argentine fall

Olive Grove’s commitment to producing healthy, high quality products in harmony with nature and with respect for the environment is backed by organic certification from the Organizacíon Internacíonal Agropecuaria (OIA). The Caprioli family has teamed up with CF Fresh to bring their flavorful organic produce to consumers in the US and Canada. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship!
