« Spartan »

The Spartan is a member of the extensive McIntosh family. It is a cross between McIntosh and Newtown Pippin that was developed at the Summerland Research Station in British Columbia in 1936. The growers of British Columbia are deservedly proud of this apple.

Spartan apples are attractive, bright red and round. They have a complex and bright flavor, firm white flesh, and a great aroma. They keep exceptionally well; seeming to mellow and gain flavor in storage.
